The security tags are great for my business. I don't want to purchase service tags for hundreds of machines. Most companies only sell them in bulk. The tags are great and the security aspect is great. | |

PC Tab Alarm System - What You Need
Not sure what you need? Answer these questions to help you determine
what components you need to complete your system. After determining
what you need, CLICK HERE to order.
- How many 'computer clusters' do you have?
A computer cluster is a row or group of computers close enough to each other to facilitate a neat, smooth installation. The diagram below shows 5 clusters of computers between two rooms.
- What components do I need to secure my computers?
- For each piece of equipment to be secured, you will need one Security Sensor (i.e. to secure a CPU and monitor, you will need 2 Security Sensors)
- You will need a connecting wire to go between each piece of equipment to be secured.
- You will need one RJ-45 or RJ-11 Adapter (depending on the type of jack used) for the beginning of each cluster to be plugged into the dedicated jack.
- You will need one End-of-Line terminator to be plugged into the last security sensor per cluster.
Using the diagram above of 5 computer clusters between two rooms, you would need the following equipment (for information on the central alarm panel, see #4)
- 80 security sensors for the 40 computer workstations (this assumes you are securing one CPU and one monitor per workstation)
- 80 connecting wires (Make sure to determine the appropriate length of connecting wire to ensure there is adequate slack to prevent undue tension on the PC Tab sensor)
- 5 RJ-45 (or RJ-11) Adapters for the beginning of each
cluster
- 5 End-of-Line terminators for the last sensor in each cluster. If using an alarm panel other than our DSC panel, you need to use the Universal Contact Module to ensure proper operation.
You should also order extra replacement tape to have on hand in
case of tampering or maintenance. The standard ratio is to have 1
replacement tape for every 10 sensors on hand.
The configuration below shows how the installation would look on a particular computer cluster.
- Do you have spare network wires to use to connect the system to the Central Alarm Panel or can you run extras?
Use of spare, unused network wiring eliminates having to run additional wires, saving in overall cost per computer! The RJ-45 or RJ-11 adapter is plugged into the spare network jack located at each computer cluster. Then simply unplug the other end of the network wire (in the network closet) from your hub and plug it into our Central Alarm Panel or your existing alarm system.

- I want to secure 15 clusters of computers. I have calculated the number of components to secure the actual computers, now what?
Now you need the Central Alarm Panel if you are not hooking into an existing alarm system or using your own alarm panel. When using spare network wiring, the basic alarm panel protects up to 8 zones or clusters of computers. For 15 clusters you will need one Central Alarm Panel and one 8-zone Expander Module. Each Alarm Panel can accept three additional 8-zone Expander Modules for a total of 32 zones or clusters on one alarm panel. For future expansion beyond 32 clusters, an additional Central Alarm Panel will be needed.
